Between Paths Podcast

Welcome to Between Paths Podcast.

Welcome to Between Paths. This is the home of the podcast, where I talk honestly about therapy, the mind, and what it takes to find your way when things don’t go to plan. This is the home of the podcast, where I talk honestly about therapy, the mind, and what it takes to find your way when things don’t go to plan.

New episodes will appear in the player below as they’re released.

Unfortunately I’ve had to remove the episodes temporarily while I sort out a sound quality issue. Everything sounds fine in production but something in the publishing process is affecting the audio, and it needs fixing before I put it back up.

New episodes will appear in the player below as they’re released. There should be two going up today, so check back shortly.

The podcast brings together real conversations about trust, boundaries, bad therapy, self-awareness, journaling, meditation, and the ways people try to make sense of their lives. It isn’t about perfect wellbeing or being more productive. It’s about the real stuff, the grey areas most of us actually live in.

If you’ve ever felt like you were on the outside looking in, or you just want a grounded, human take on mental health without the jargon, you’re welcome here. It’s for people trying to understand themselves, recover their own voice, and find steadier ground.

I’ll be honest, I’m still finding my way with this medium. There’s a fair bit of anxiety in the planning, and sometimes too many choices feels like its own form of avoidance. But I’m heading in the right direction, chipping away, one episode at a time.

Why this, why now?

Like a lot of people, I lost my therapy practice during the pandemic. Starting over wasn’t easy. I found myself outside the therapy world, running into barriers like outdated qualifications and expensive retraining. Somewhere in all that I started questioning some of the systems underneath modern therapy, especially the ones that seem more about control than care. Not all therapy organisations are like that, of course. But there’s a tension I can’t ignore.

Then, almost by accident, I ended up working in call handling. It wasn’t a role I’d expected, but I grew to respect it deeply. It taught me a lot about people, about pressure, and about how we speak to each other in the moments we most need it. That, alongside my years in therapy, is where this podcast came from.

A bit about me

I’m Adrian. I’ve worked as a therapist for eighteen years, starting out in hypnotherapy and psychotherapy, and went on to become one of the first to run a full-time online therapy practice. Along the way I’ve seen things that left me disillusioned with parts of the therapy world, and more determined to talk about them openly.

This podcast is part personal reflection, part resource, and part invitation. A place for people who are curious about therapy, who’ve had a bad experience of it, who want to know how to protect themselves, or who just want to explore things like journaling, mindfulness and meditation in a way that respects that everyone is different. It’s easy to generalise, and generalising usually misses the person right in front of you. What helps one person won’t help the next, and that’s alright.

This isn’t a slick, polished production. I’m learning as I go, so expect a few rough edges. But it’s honest, and I hope it’s useful.

Be part of it

If you’ve had a difficult experience of therapy, or you’re just curious about what support can look like beyond the textbook, I’d like to hear from you. Your thoughts, stories and feedback are part of what will shape where this goes. There’s a page for that, you’ll find it under Share Your Story.

Thanks for being here. Let’s see where this goes.
