There’s nothing wrong with being sensitive to what’s around you.
We all respond to our environment.
Noise, people, pressure it all has an effect.
So when things feel too much, it’s natural to want to step away.
To get space.
To settle.
That makes sense.
But when this goes too far, your tolerance starts to shrink.
And things that used to feel manageable begin to feel overwhelming.
What’s going on
Your system is taking in a lot.
You notice what’s happening around you.
The noise.
The movement.
The pressure.
And when it builds, it becomes harder to filter or settle.
So your system reacts.
It looks for a way to reduce the input — to get out, shut down, or create space.
How it tends to feel
- You feel irritated by noise, clutter, or busy environments
- You want to step away when things feel too much
- You struggle to think clearly when there’s a lot going on
- You feel more reactive than you’d like to be
The cost
Your tolerance gets smaller.
Things that others seem to handle can feel overwhelming.
You may find yourself needing to escape or shut down just to cope.
Over time, this can leave you feeling on edge or drained, because your system hasn’t had enough space to settle.
Your starting point
You don’t need to push through everything.
You just need to start noticing:
👉 what feels like too much
👉 when it starts to build
👉 what your system does in response
